Intellectual Property
Apgar Wilson’s IP practice is led by Sherri Wilson. Sherri developed her core intellectual property skills by working for an IP boutique law firm founded by former Fish & Richardson partners. Her broad array of expertise ranges from advising on IP portfolio strategies to IP litigation and prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. This legal knowledge is complemented by her technical and business acumen, which is derived from her experience as an electrical engineer. Sherri takes a thorough approach to her practice that goes beyond routine IP portfolio management by typically acting as outside IP counsel for her clients.
As a result, Apgar Wilson represents plaintiffs and defendants in a full range of intellectual property prosecution and litigation matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition disputes nationwide. Apgar Wilson also handles domain name disputes and advocates to protect clients’ IP with domain providers like GoDaddy and social media services like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Apgar Wilson provides comprehensive IP services and partners with its clients to create tailored plans that strike the necessary balance between clients’ appetites for risk and the monetization and protection of their intellectual property.

This includes more than a decade of running two successful law firms previously and a winning record of helping entrepreneurs, growing companies, and nonprofits navigate strategic decisions through sound legal advice and experienced business insight. With a background working with high-value entrepreneurial clients as well as strategic in-house legal and operational teams, Margaret has developed an exacting approach to corporate matters that is interactive, approachable, and effective, and typically acts as outside general counsel for her clients.
